I wish to know the historical site of Batu Kapal as I wish to visit there sonetime late this month. Knowledge of it will help me appreciate more of this place.

The locals believe the batu kapal rock formation is very old and was a former ship turned into stone after a mythical creature by the name of Sang Kelembai cursed the ship. That’s basically all they are going to tell you and me. But the whole area around and on Gunung Jerai is ancient and steeped in history that became forgotten when they disappeared and were reclaimed by the jungle. There are scattered remains of Hindu temples at the base of Gunung Jerai that you can visit today at a place called Bujang Valley.
