Terminalia catappa

Terminalia catappa (Ketapang in Malay) is a very common coastal tree that grows to 30+ meters tall. It is fast growing, sheds its leaves twice a year in January and July, and is a favored shade tree for parks and gardens. It can be spotted growing in Kuala Lumpur. Also called Sea Almond or Tropical Almond.
