Vast deforestation of the surrounding lowland plains. This was prime wildlife habitat not long ago. Just like humans, wildlife struggle to survive on steep slopes and hilly terrain. Whatever flat lowlands there are in Malaysia, humans will grab it to plant something (usually oil palm) and call this ‘development’.
